Whilst the art of reflexology dates back to Ancient Egypt, India and China, this therapy was not introduced to the West until Dr. William Fitzgerald developed "Zone Therapy".
He believed that reflex areas on the feet and hands were linked to other areas and organs of the body within the same zone. In the 1930's Eunice Ingham further developed this zone theory into what became known as "reflexology". Her opinion was that congestion or tension in any part of the body is mirrored in a corresponding part of the hands or feet.
Reflexology is one of the most used alternative therapies in Denmark. A national survey in 2005 revealed that 21.4% of the Danish population had reflexology treatment at some point in their lives and 6.1% had had reflexology treatment within the prior year. Further, a study from Norway in 2007 showed that 5.6% of the Norwegian population had used reflexology with the last 12 months.
Reflexology is a gentle and easy therapy to receive. It's best to dress in comfortable clothes and you will remain fully dressed other than your shoes and socks.
Reflexology is gentle pressure and manipulation to the feet/hands using specific thumb, finger, and hand techniques to stimulate reflex points and produce an effect elsewhere in the body. It is a non-intrusive method of pressure point massage with no surgery or medicine, and has no known side effects, only potential benefits.

There are 7,000 plus nerve endings in the human foot, and many areas of the foot are reflex points that correspond to areas, parts or organs of the body. By stimulating the flow of energy to the corresponding body part this gradually helps restore the body's own ability to heal itself, physically and emotionally.
Reflexology encourages the body to relax therefore it works on reducing stress and tension. When stress and tension are reduced in the body the muscles cease to contract and hence become relaxed, easing aches and pains. This helps the body to restore it's natural balance.
After treatment you will receive immediate benefits, feeling more balanced and relaxed. You may also find sleep improves and your sense of wellbeing is lifted.
Reflexologists do not diagnose or prescribe and it is not an alternative to conventional medicine. You should always consult your Doctor with regard to any medical issues.
Six sessions of Reflexology are initially recommended and then regular follow up sessions. This enables the continuity of the reflexology energy to work as a preventative measure leading to a more tranquil and balanced feeling of wellbeing.
£75 per session.
